Pierre Viala Traité Général de Viticulture:Ampelographie 1900
The Traité Général de Viticulture – Ampelographie by Pierre Viala and Victor Vormorel was pubished between 1901 and 1910. The fine composition of the illustrations and the precise, beautiful printing make these plates very attractive and decorative.
The work contains 500 chromolithographed plates, 70 engraved plates and 840 engraved text illustrations. A. Kreyder and J. Troncy were the artists credited with the illustrations for the Traité and the famous art printing firm of F. Chempenois printed the work. It is perhaps the most comprehensive treatise on grapes ever produced and includes many varieties from that era (and earier) that have now become exticnt.
