American Scenery was first published in 1840 in London by George Virtue. Bartlett, a prolific illustrator, journeyed worldwide to produce his travel books. He painted "on location" and then produced the steel engravings in American Scenery which have become so sought after. These steel engravings were originially produced in black and white- colored examples on the market have recent coloring.

Large 8vo., 10 1/2" x 7 3/4" overall measurement, clean impression, paper toned around borders, one faint foxing mark upper center margin will mat out, otherwise very good condition. *Please Note* This image is digitally watermarked, but the electronic watermark does not appear on the actual print.
